The groundbreaking ceremony for the Heavy Products Quality Improvement Project at Tabriz Oil Refining Company was held with the aim of enhancing product quality, reducing environmental emissions, and increasing the added value of refinery products. The ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Pilot Aziz Nasirzadeh, Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, Dr. Bahram Sarmast, Governor of East Azerbaijan Province, Dr. Saeed Sadeghi Goughari, CEO of the Armed Forces Social Security Organization (SATA), Eng. Seyed Majid Hedayat, CEO of Ghadir Investment Group, along with a number of senior national and provincial officials.
According to the Public Relations Office of Ghadir Investment Group, the project's primary objective is to increase the added value of refinery products, reduce the production of high-sulfur fuel products, and improve the environmental performance of Tabriz Oil Refinery.
The Heavy Products Quality Improvement Project has been designed with an investment of approximately €500 million on a site covering nearly 10 hectares and is considered one of the country's strategic refinery development projects.
Utilizing advanced refining technologies and creating synergy between the RCD unit and supporting processing units, the project is expected to play a significant role in improving production processes at Tabriz Oil Refinery.
Upon completion, the project will enable the refinery's fuel oil production to comply with international environmental standards while strengthening the resilience of Iran's fuel supply chain and reducing environmental emissions. In addition, the project will support the development of advanced refining technologies and create sustainable employment opportunities in the region.
During the ceremony, speakers highlighted the strategic role of Tabriz Oil Refinery in supporting the country's energy security.
The project is being implemented in line with Article 45 of Iran's Seventh Five-Year National Development Plan.
